I hadn't heard that- I thought a flexible cable became a cord, or vice versa, when it crossed the AtlanticDoesn't a cord become a cable over a certain CSA? I forget what size it changes!

Of course there is; far too little confusion around at the moment. On the subject of colours, there's a proposal to standardise the colour for functional earth conductors as yellow.

Do you mean the black earth or
the white yellow phase?
Call it sable, maybe? But if the earth is black, how do you distinguish it from the neutral?
Actually it's the IEC TC3.the geniuses at CENELEC
I've shown this picture of the origin of my installation a number of times before - I guess that 'they' (I believe East Midlands Electricity Board at the time) must have run out of black-insulated cable (and forgot to take the outer sheath into the Henley)!I've seen red used for earth and for main bonding in more than one property, black is still seen in a few places.
