Identify old lockshield

Hi All,

I have this type of lockshield on my radiator, was told the system was fitted in 2003 according to home report. All the other radaitors bar the one in the bathroom have them, think the radiator in the bathroom is new as it has a newer type lockshield/tail.

The reason for asking is all the radiators in the home are hot to touch all over except for one in the bedroom which is hot to touch at top/middle, but warm at the bottom.

I was going to take off the radiator and flush it with a hose. I have removed radiators with the newer type lockshield, just a bit unsure about this one.

Remove the cap (pull it straight upwards) and take a peep underneath!

Yes its been bled, need to know know what type of nut that connected.

Are you talking about undoing the nut between the tail and the lockshield?
Do you have an adjustable spanner?

That lockshield looks to be a pretty standard one to me.

Under cap is a valve operated by a small adjustable spanner typically or the wheelhead off the other end's valve to isolate the circulating water. (Other tools can be used).

The nut on right unscrews to release the valve and all the water from rad pours onto the floor and wall... it's captive to the bit that screwed into the radiator.

Dunno what your others are like.

Yeah undoing the nut between, have a spanner so it’s basically the same as the current type of tails.

Yes, but the one you have is also current and still used.
