These blocks are the same size as concrete blocks available today from RP or TP but have small bits of brick in them, and they definitely have bits of cinders/charcoal in them.
Since concrete blocks were introduced, manufacturers have used many different types of aggregates/waste products from other processes - whatever was available locally.
