Identifying flow and return

Turn heating on, starting from cold. The flow pipe will become hot, long before the return becomes warm.

There should also be an arrow, formed in the pump casting, denoting the direction of pump flow.

To fit a Ady filter on return

First time fitting on a heat only system. Just want to be sure before start . Got no problem with bunging f n e and vent. Isolating water and wet vav ing the remainder water in pipe so no water when cut it.

But I think I have got the flow and return arrows wrong way. Return is after pump going to 3 port I think. Just need clarifying.

No off the 3 port will be heating flow and cylinder flow for hot water. Have a look at the cylinder there’s 2 connections if indirect, one will be flow from the 3 port the bottom should be return

There no room at the boilor the pipes are tight to the ceiling

I think you may be right. The return is not visible in cylinder cupboard

For the filter to be most effective, as suggested, you need to have it after the primary return from the HW cylinder where it meets the main return and then before the boiler.

That may require the return to the boiler, in the cupboard possibly, to be rerouted to allow space for the filter to be fitted.
