someone my dad knows phoned me earlier to ask a few questions about a large motor he has. basically, he has a 600AH (yes, 600AH) battery the size of a normal car battery (all attempts of telling him the AH was less and the 600A is the output power it can give failed... )

anyway, he decided to use this to power a large powered motor ( not sure of the exact rating, altho it was about 40-50A 12V. worked for 2 days then on 3rd it stopped workin

and the battery charger is now buggered.

i tried to tell him that he should be usin somesort of engine/genny to power motor because the battery wont last long etc etc. so what did he say at the end? 'oh well, ill just go get another 2 batteries tomorrow so it should be OK...'

A good trick - where can I buy one?

Wonder why? AH is not a difficult concept to grasp

So he should now be able to work out the approximate capacity of the battery..

So it will, for another 4 days. Don't worry - the message will soon sink in.

Unless he wants to wreck the batteries, I hope he's buying deep-cycle ones....
