Is there not a way to get an image direct from you HDD, into the middle of a post along with the test?
 
More than one attached image
An excellent example of a somewhat tediously annoying "feature" - no way to click from one image through to the next - you have to keep going back and forth between browser tabs, clicking each image.

Also, people do quite often need to quote an image along with the text - but now they disappear from the quoted post.

That's the one I find most useful.
Type your message before (or after) and just drag the image from whatever file it is in on your computer (then, as DR says, click full size or thumbnail). I think that's much easier and quicker than messing about downloading a picture to your DIYnot album.
 
The thumbnails appear ok for myself using Chrome, but it appears they disagree with Firefox. I'll add that to the list to investigate.
