Hello, I hope somebody can give me some useful information. I have been searching this forum but cannot seem to find any post on the subject I require help on. Many of the posts are varied and contradictive about my question.
I have a hot water cylinder in my cupboard upstairs. It is run by an immersion heater. Last night it may hae failed to work, or work as good as it used to, as today there is no hot water, as to be more exact, the water is not hot, just warmish but not appropriate. The cylinder is 900 x 450mm direct. The heater is rated at 3KW.
To be short about it, how do I find out if the element has definetely failed or is failing. Some posts suggest it may just be the thermostat which is at fault.
I have a multimeter (bought from screwfix over a year ago).
I know how to use it but what is the exact or easiest procedure for testing for a faulty element, and or thermostat on my immersion?
Any help I would much love and could run down to B & Q this afternoon and get what I need, ie a new thermostat or whole new heater.
