Currently the immersion heater in my flat is connected to a fused/switched spur via a 24hr timer switch. The timer switch overheated and melted  and thankfully the RCD did its job. :)

Question I have is would it be better to have the timer replaced with a Timed Fused Spur - Fused Spur with Timer i.e. replacing the switch at the spur. I saw this at TLC http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Timers_Index/Immersion_Heater_Timers_1/index.html

Thanks for your suggestions.

That would be suitable (as per it's specifications) although connecting an immersion heater through anything with a BS1362 fuse means they can run a little warm.
Your connections will need to be correct and secure.

I meant the one that melted.
There was a bad batch.
Their website said they would refund but I couldn't get them to answer.

As has been said, the TLC one is not really suitable because of the fuse.

EFLI: S*d the website: your contract is with the seller. Get it back to the wholesaler and demand a refund.

They can then deal with Greenbrook.
