Is it normal for an immersion heater switch to flash inside when it is switched on and off? I have checked the terminals for tightness and they seem ok.

I am thinking of replacing the switch with a new one and have been told that I should replace it with a switched spur instead of a 20amp switch which is currently used. is this advice correct?

thanks in advance.

It is most common to have a 20amp switch installed, with a 2.5mm cable or larger back to the fuse box. A 15/16amp fuse should be used here.

Sw fuse spurs used to be used when the immersion was on the ring (sockets).

All switches arc, especially higher current ones (like this). The more expensive the switch, the less you will notice it. (the arc is better conceiled in the more expensive brands due to thicker, higher quality materials).

Hope thats clear!
