Hello.

I live in a flat and I have an immersion water heater. Lately at night, my electricity has been tripping. I have narrowed it down to the water heater, as I switched it off from the RCD and the electricity didn’t trip. But when I have it on a manual boost, it works fine and the electricity does not trip. Could this be a fault timer? Thanks for any help

Does your tank have 1 heating element or 2.

If it’s 2 then the RCD tripping is almost certainly due to the over night element becoming faulty.

Highly unlikely to be the timer

Thanks for your prompt response. I think it has two. I’m out at the moment but I can post a picture of it tomorrow.

I note also on screwfix forum, as I have said needs a meter, I note the pressure test well out of date, I hate sealed systems because of the annual test, so may be you can kill two birds with one stone?

There is your answer, I would say get a plumber to change it, as it is a pressure vessel and needs testing.

Thank you for letting me know. Which of the two do think it may be?? And are they the same
