Hi all,

Should I be worried about using speedfit elbows and tees that are under the floor and in stud walls.

They will be used in a bathroom and won't be accessible after the tiles are done.

Assuming I fit them correctly and use the collect clips to lock them do I need to be worried about leaks?

I've seen loads of older posts with mixed opinions and just wanted to know the current thinking :)

Cheers,
Dan

Not the best idea putting push fit in inaccessible places, the o ring is perishable and the plastic gets brittle with heat over time.

most things perish given enough time.having fitted hep plastic in alsorts of places for many years I have found they rarely give problems....but not left them 500 years yet!.not so keen on speedfit but probably half the country have plastic plumbing without problems

Thanks for the answers guys.

I guess it still divides opinions! Lol

I'm going to go with copper as I plan to stay in the house for a long time and don't want to run the risk of leaky pipes...

...any thoughts on copper pipe and pegler techtite fittings? :)

You can't beat copper pipe and soldered joints for long lasting peace of mind. Having said that, I recently had an emergency late night call out to a leak in a loft. A soldered joint had failed that had been in place for over 40 years. The solder hadn't run properly and it came apart in my hands. Lord knows how it had held for so long.
