Hi all,

I managed to remove (destroy) the bearings of a washing machine Indesit W123 and bought the replacement set yesterday.
I cleaned up the surface and added some Vaseline but it seems quite hard to get them in. I am using a wooden block and big hammer.
Is there any alternative way to do it or shall I keep using elbow grease?
Thanks

OK this is exactly how I am doing it but it is just much harder to gett them in and was wondering if I was doing it right....

Check the numbers on the new bearings with those on the old.....this will confirm the size.
Can you use a socket to knock the new bearings in? You need one just slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the bearing. Wood is great but sometimes has too much give.
Give the bearing locating boss a clean up with steel wool, fine wet and dry paper or whatever, but don't overdo it.
John :)

All done now, little heat with heat gun helped a lot.
Washing machine now working fine and noisless

Very well done mate!
I'm always undecided whether or not to do jobs like this.....some machines are so unfriendly when taking them to bits.
Plenty of brownie points there :P

My wife is not happy, she was looking forward to have a brand new washing machine with drier....
