What is the difference between an inline fan and a normal extractor fan and which would be best suited for a bathroom with a non powershower shower?

I'm planning on getting one in the upstairs bathroom. Bathroom has two external walls, but I think putting the fan (inline/external) in the ceiling/attic and out through the roof would be the least disruptive. Fan to be placed over the non shower end of the bath.

It would be fitted by a spark and as we're getting the roof retiled in the near future any vent would have the "correct" fitting.
