Inspiron 1520 boot up

Tried to boot upy laptop but all I get is "ntdlr is missing"
What does this mean
I am in Devon not my regular location after heavy rain
Laptop was aok yesterday

It's a Windows error. You should be able to correct it by booting from the installation CD and choosing the 'repair' or 'upgrade' menu options. These will replace damaged system files but won't change any of your settings.

Could also be a loose cable connection form the HDD to the Mobo.

You wouldn't get that error. Plus, there is no cable.
