Hi there,

I am thinking of installing an extractor fan in my living room, is it possible to have the exit of the extractor fan going into the chimney? As the chimney is not used for anything else as all fires have been removed and the fireplaces have been knocked out and covered with plaster board.

Good point, looks like i'll have to knock that idea on the head then.

The blocked up chimney should of had a vent left in to stop condensation in the first place.

You could always just put a vent in now and if the chimney pot is still there/functioning, the natural draw of the chimney will pull air out of your room without the need of mechanical extractor. For added control, use a vent that can slide open and shut. Won't look very pretty, but would achieve what your after.
