Help appreciated. I'm installing a new cooker with double oven with max output 3.9kw. The manual says 6mm2 flex to the connection point (fair do's), but what size cable should I use to the control unit and from there to the consumer unit? Cable run is approx 10m. Also, what rating fuses should I use at either end?

If 3.9kW then manual is being a bit cautious. 3.9kW is just under 17 amps. 2.5mm cable can carry 27amps. For 3.9kW you can run a radial with 2.5mm T+E protected with 20amp MCB on a dedicated circuit. (Assuming no major correction factors - you need to supply further info of the enviroment the circuit will be installed)

However, 3.9kw is very low for cooker. You may want to make future proof and install a greater size cable if maybe you or someone else choose to get a more powerful appliance.

New circuits come under teh scoop of part P though.
