You're correct about the 3 T&E. The second switch is at the other end of the hallway. So I simply replace this switch with a 2-gang and wire as you've shown, with the other end of the new T&E running to the new wall mounted lamp. Correct?I expect this is a solution but I do have to mention that sometimes things are not what they seem.
I see 3 T&E cables - is that correct?
It looks like top 2 T&Es are loop in and loop out. (permanent live and neutral)
And bottom T&E is strappers to the other switch (?upstairs?)
