I want to install a 5amp FCU outside of the bathroom before a shaver socket (as per shaver socket installation instructions). What I want to know is, can I convert a single socket which is on a 32amp socket circuit to the 5amp fcu or do I need to sour off this single socket and feed it to the 5amp fcu then in to the shaver socket?

An FCU will take various fuse ratings so you would just need to change the socket faceplate to an FCU faceplate and change the 13A fuse that they normally come with to a 5A one then connect your shaver socket to the LOAD side of the FCU. Using a switched FCU is slightly more convenient than an unswitched one for any future maintenance or changes you might want to make.
