Installing an under cabinet socket

Me too. Not necessary.

Back to OP. 1.5mm flex is not sufficient - you should use 2.5mm.

Doing what you suggest (two separate cables from one point in the ring) is not allowed. You are only allowed one spur from an existing socket on the ring final.

Per the above, better to make it part of the ring use 2.5mm² cables - you could use 2.5mm² flex if it fits the hole.
Sorry they didnt think to make this easy for you..usually I wire from the rear of the horrid socket where there's no problem with running a cable.

Thanks guys for all the helpful advice. Running the socket off a fused spur is possible but the only reasonable place I have to install the fuse would be too close to a potential wet area so I won't do that.

seems to show what I was intending to do - take two spurs off a ring. I never intended to spur off a socket. Does that make a difference? Regardless, there's no way I could get two 2.5mm flex cables into each of the modules. All in all, installing this thing safely is above my capability. So I'm going to do the boring thing and change to Plan B. Plan B is not so good from a number of points but has the big advantage that it is a regular socket and I can install it with confidence. If I'd have known this thing was so awkward, Plan B would have been the only plan in town! Live and learn.
