I am looking to replace an old combi for a new one. The existing boiler is in the attic which has no permanent flooring, lights or ladders. The client said she is going to get the attic floored etc but needs a new boiler now as the hot water is not working.

Would it be okay to get written evidence from the client on her future plans for the attic and install the new one before this is done?

I've done this in the past as well.

You could offer to get the loft sorted for her before work commences and add it to your quote/bill.

WB boilers can't be fitted in lofts and should there be a warranty fault you may find they refuse to carry out the work until brought upto spec.

You have been warned.

i doubt very much that would be legal; plans have a tendency to be altered.

Put the flooring in yourself and add the cost to your invoice/quote. You could probably do something about the lighting without annoying the regs as well. Agreed about WB and lofts, they really don't like it if you put one up there.

Any manufacturer's service engineers have a right to refuse to work on boilers in a loft if there is not flooring and a fixed light.
