Two weeks ago I managed to smash my oven door into a million pieces and sourced a new one from spares zone.co.uk.

I am trying to fit the new door but have hit the skids as the hinges on the new door appear to be locked and the small levers which flip to open/close hinge are locked in against the door preventing me from opening them.

Can anyone give me some advice as to how I can open the hinge and fit the door before my wife kills me and I don't get a Sunday dinner

I have attached a picture of the new door and the locked hinge and the current obliterated door with hinge open in case my description wasn't clear.

Many thanks !

Those flaps are only to lock the hinges in place after they are hooked into the oven. They do not stop the hinges from operating. What you do is offer up the hinges to the holes in the oven, pull the door downwards until the whole of each flap is exposed, lift up the flaps, waggle the hinges fully home then lock the flaps.

I've been trying that but it would appear that the hinges are too short the way they are currently. :?:

You can practice with the old door. Lock the flaps down and push the hinges in the same as they are on the new door. Now try to fit the old door back on as I described. If you can fit the old one but not the new then perhaps you have the wrong door.

I was afraid of that, I guess the "specialists" from the place I bought it weren't so special!

I'll give it another go
