Hi
I need to replace an outdoor light, the cable run on the wall inside a metal conduit. I want to buy the light in the attached pic. However, the cable entry for this light is from a back plate that fixes to the wall which doesn't work for me. Any ideas? Shall I cut a hole in the back plate? Or look for a different one?

Thanks

Well the backplate looks as if it has a hole anyway.
But I would not get that light or any up down light. There is no point in trying to light the sky.

Yes I know but that doesn't work for me. My cable is running on the wall,, surface mount inside metal conduit. The back plate hole is good if cable is coming out form a wall.

It takes 2 bulbs, you can only put one if you don't want to light the sky.

You would need a plate to mount the light on.
Protruding from the wall at least as much as the conduit.
Hardwood properly treated and painted of your choice of colour would be a good option, or some sort of plastic.

If I use wood, do I have to make an opening or a grove to let the cable through?

Can you attach a conduit box to the conduit? Maybe fix the light to that with a small hole for the cable?
