Hi guys,

I'm after a little advice please? I am currently renovating some of the rooms in my house. The wife wants to remove the artex on the ceilings but from what i've been reading; artex installed pre-1980 contained asbestos. With my house being built early 1960, what are the chances of it containing the substance? Other than calling out my local Environment Agency to have it tested is there anything else i can do?

I was thinking of just installing some plaster board over the top and having it all freshly skimmed. As long as it's not in dust form it's ok isn't it?

Your advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Perfectly good solution so just board over the Artex and ensure you hit the joists with suitable length fixings.
