Installing wiring wired video door bell

Hi

I want to install a wired video door bell, the problem is how to supply power. I want to use the power from nearby light, pls see photo, the light switch is always on as its a sensor PIR light. The adapter is as shown in the photo, I want to open the adapter which is coneveniently easy by removing screws and use the main feed connector to link to the light feed; the planned set up as in the last photo. I will have to find a way to fix the adapter on the wall. The area is like a porch so no risk of rain water.

Any issues with the above plan?

I would not recommend altering the transformer. Use a normal socket and fit something like this so that the lighting circuit can't be overloaded by someone who is not aware of how it is connected

That won't look nice But I see what your point. I am only changing the way the 240V is supplied to the adapter. How about to use a 5A in line fuse connected to the live; which is similar in functioning to your suggestion?

Thanks but this won't work, need at least 10VA.

The two brands Ring and Tapo TP Link video door bells needs 10VA plus, I guess most if not all brands have same spec.

I'm not familiar with them but if the ring doorbell in picture has a plug in power supply and a lead to connect to the doorbell ?

That would be the best diy option for powered doorbell as no wiring alteration needed

You could add a plug and socket arrangement if that suits you.
If you are concerned that a bog standard plug and socket might encorage someone to plug power tool etcinto a lighting circuit then you could use an alternative plug and socket arrangement
