just generally, where would you use them, do they act as cavity closers? i thought that they would just be 150 mm above ground where you would use a normal dpc, i thought and was wondering what conditions would mean you would have to use it etc. extreme conditions or something im not too sure.
noseall that actually helps, i just had know clue watsever what it does i just thought it was the same as a normal dpc but just insulated so that cleas it up a bit.
It closes the cavity at a door or other opening and prevents heat loss from the inner to the outer skins where they 'close the cavity' and reduce condensation risks. A dpc with some polystyrene stuck to it http://www.sheffins.co.uk/images/products/Damcor.jpg was the norm but are generally frowned upon nowadays as they don't always make for a good junction. Nowadays proprietry closers like this are used http://www.uvalue.ie/uploads/images/thermabate.jpg
