Insulating CH pipe under upstairs floor boards

Is it necessary to insulate CH pipes under upstairs floor boards?

My thinking is that lost heat will be heating the house anyway? Or is that stupid?!

What about in a stud wall?

Normal practice would be to leave uninsualted.
Pipes from the boiler to the HW cylinder should be, though.

This is an interesting one because last year I spent a lot of time insulating the whole heating circuit and also DHW pipes. I figured it was better to deliver the heat as much as possible where it was needed.
Maybe it was a waste of time and money, but I could tell the rads were definately hotter. For the DHW it was a no brainer as it must be better to conserve as much heat as poss until it comes out of the taps/shower/bath.
Are there any cons to me having done this you can think of?
