I need to insulate my timber suspended GF and am not sure exactly what to use. I've seen different ideas:

1. Foam insulation supported by a mesh fixed to the joists.

2. Rigid board (i.e. celotex) wedged between the joists.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Why don`t you use 4" polystyrene and let it rest on battens nailed on to the joist

A common method is to put a layer of carpet down on top of the floor. For extra insulation you can put underlay beneath it.
