Hey guys.

I know insulation had been done to death, but after a bit of searching I can't find a specific answer.

I've been looking at insulation, and when I originally planned my garage, I had celotex in mind.

Now it's actually coming to the time I need to think about ordering it, I've realised how much more it is than just stendard 'fibreglass' insulation.

At the end of the day it is 'just a garage' but I do want it to be comfortable.

Will 100mm or even 150mm 'fibreglass' squashed in be sufficient? Or should I only really be looking at celotex?

Cheers

Sufficient for what?

If you are only in there for short periods, then that will mean a much longer payback term.

If however you will be in there regularly and want good warm temperatures, the payback is much shorter so the cost of rigid is more worthwhile.

Even mineral wool at that depth will make a noticeable difference to temperatures without any heat input, assuming the building is well constructed and airtight, and you are doing something a bit active.

If you have an uninsulated garage door, then it's all a bit moot anyway.

Too many variables to give a helpful answer.
