is it possible (logical) to perform an insulation test on the plug of a dishwasher to detect if its the source of random RCD trips? between E&L and E&N?

anyway, I've performed a basic test using an insulation tester and it shows a resistance (i.e less than megaohm) but is this caused by the something internally in the dishwasher?

Insulation tests like that are meaningless on virtually all modern appliances. There will be components connected between L&E / N&E which will cause all kinds of duibious readings.

yeah figured as much. its going in the bin in a few weeks as the kitchen is being replaced with a built-in one. we live in a hard water area and its a few years old now anyway.

can't say for sure its the dishwasher as the tripping is very infrequent and very random in nature, but it appears to happen soon after the drying sequence of the d/w (but only certain times)

thx
