Im planning on lifting the fairly rotten floorbaords in my bedroom and laying woodchip style boards and carpeting.

Im wanting to insulate the spaces between the joists, for every efficiency, is it worthwhile and what type of insuation would you advise

When i lad the boards, do i do it as it i was tiling, ie batton it off and lay full boards and then cut the edges to fit or should i just start at the furthest wall and board townards the door?

Thanks

to deal with noise transfer reduction, b'regs specify 100mm quilt insulation.

i don't know what you would gain thermally though.

i would avoid chipboard like the plague.

What would you advise fitting? On a budget really as I will be carpeting so Oak floorboards, wouldnt be worth it

Also, Fitting them is it easiest to lay the middle and then cut the edges? how often should you screw?
