Insulation

Have a bedroom that is part over a garage, and part within pitched roof.
Basically in the winter, its cold.

But what are the recommendations for insulation.
Could I pull up floorboards and lay insulation between joists, and would this be best just over the garage area, or whole bedroom floor.

I’d do the lot. Celotex fitted snugly between joists with expanding foam in the gaps.

What is beneath the part of the bedroom that isn't above the garage? If it's a heated room, any insulation in that part of the floor would mean less heat rising into the bedroom

How much depth is there below the floorboards, above the garage ceiling?
What is the garage ceiling made from? (There are fire safety issues to consider.)
You should consider insulating the ceiling as well.
