Hi all Can i use king span between ceiling and bedroom floors, and do i need to leave an air gap.
You do if they are above a garage. You don't need thermal insulation in bedroom floors
Yes, obviously. I assumed they meant 'ordinary' bedroom floors. You do if they are above a garage.
Are you suggesting you should install additional thermal insulation to the Rockwool ,which as you say has thermal insulating properties anyway, perhaps make every room an insulated boxUse Rockwool RW3 - this is a good sound insulator and has good thermal properies too. As to the question on whether you actually need to thermally insulate I would say yes - this gives you greater control over temperatures in each room - ie you are not heating the room above etc
Specified often for housebuilders and never heard any complaints about fixing it but not disputing your experience.Getting 15mm sound block board up on the ceiling might be the challenge though!
