Interconnected Smoke Alarms

I have got a mains powered smoke alarm, which has three connections: Live, Neutral and Interconnect.

Does anyone know what signal is sent out of the detector, to other interconnected detectors along the third wire?

Is it high voltage or low (5V) voltage. I would like to use the detector to connect into my existing alarm panel, probably via a relay?

Could be anything ....depending on make on model , what make are they and how old ? You would be better fitting a relay base depending on the unit ...
