interference engine or not ?

2002 astra club, 1.4 8 v, does anyone know if its an interference engine ?

i know to do a compression test etc, its just the car is down the country, if it means new valves etc it may not be worth going down to bring it back up here in the northeast, as it all costs, if its only a case of belt and kit then its worth it to me

are sure it's a 1.4 as TIS (VX info) only list the 1.6 as an 8v

If so the 8v's are a suicide head/clearance
But not all that great on failing safe rockers snap had this on a MK1 astra same head design ( now a 30 plus year head)

positive mate, its a 1.4 and if you check again VX do list a 1.4 8v and its definately a G engine, cheers for your reply anyway

Can you see the engine number? If so does it have any of these codes in it;
C14NZ = 1400cc sohc 8v single point injection
C14SE = 1400cc sohc 8v multi point injection
X14NZ = 1400cc sohc 8v single point injection

Will probably of snapped a couple of rocker arms, can be replaced without any major dismantling, just remove cam cover to check and if any broken ensure valve collets are still in place.
