Does anyone know how an intermediate switch works internally ?

I have been looking at wiring diagrams and it doesn't make sense to me ?
thanks guys,
Mr. Richardson

Intermediate switches can certainly be confusing. ill try to explain it the easiest way i can. if the switch has connections A1 and B1 on one side and A2 and B2 on the other then the switch works as follows. in one position A1 is connected to A2 and B1 is connected to B2. [Straigh through the switch]. In the other position A1 is connected to B2 and A2 is connected to B1. [crossed over and through the switch]. i hope this helps.
