hi, my neighbours electric are playing up a bit.

the hosue has 1960's style consumer unit with four pot fuses replacable wire.

what the problem is elecy is trippin in living room sockets..fuse not blown around an hour later applainces try to start up again only for elecy to go back down.

Hi,
Is this just the sockets which stop working or the whole system including lights?
If just sockets, the suggests broken or loose wire - could be a damaged wire in the fuse. Easy to check first turn off ALL circuits. If fuse wire is OK and the right size, look for any damage to area (hot, burns, etc). Check the connection of circuit wire to fuse holder for tightness. Next find the neutral which comes from the socket circuit and check that it is secure and undamaged.
Once you've tried this come back for next stage.

just the plug sockets, as i say fuses not blown and their applainces come back on to go back off again after start up.

lights and other sockets in other rooms are ok, problem is with living room only.

could over laod be responsible as they have twin socket feeding 4 uotput extension lead tv video xbox dvd and on its own from the twin socket a modem for the xbox.

whenelecy goes down it is not restricted to only that socket all sockets in room go down with it
will try what you say then come back as you say

thanks

terry

Inspect all the wiring on the circuit, tightening connections as needed.

Also if it is a rewirable fuse rewire it, just because the fusewire looks ok doesn't mean there isn't an intermittant break in it somewhere.

THANKS GUYS, turned out that a wire was loose in a rose connection thus melting rose.
