I am having my kitchen done and I have planned to have a bi-folding door to enter from the hall. At the moment it is a normal door.

My fitter has just come back to me and said that the existing door opening isn't suitable for the bi-folding door? It will take a lot of alterations to the existig frame which could damage the plaster.

Is this true?

Cheers

Altering a door frame can impact on surrounding plaster work especially if it's in poor condition.

If you're short of space, have you considered a sliding door?

Probably ought to be a fire door too and if so doing away with it will invalidate your insurance should the worse happen.
