Internal Door Casing

Hi Folks,
Just a quick question. I need to pack the side out on an internal door casing. Its about 2 inch to pack out each side which is fairly easy. However i'm unsure what depth i need to pack out? The door casing is 4 1/4" depth, would 4" dressed be okay to allow room for the plaster board or would i have to go for less than 4" dressed?

not if plasterboard is being fitted both sides?
if you cant get the required size off the peg you may have to machine some timber up to the correct depth/width required so when you plasterboard the walls it finishes flush with the lining.

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to machine some off as I want plasterboard both sides. Should taking a 1/4" off be enough?

basically whatever your fixing the packer too it needs to be the same size.
