Our flatblock doors have an internal closing mechanism inside them. I think it is a Dorma RTS85 En3. The problem is that our door is only 625mm wide so the door is heavy to open - particularly for our 92 year old resident!

Is there an internal mechanism that would be better suited for out narrow doors?

Thanks

The issue is partly one of building regs - if that door is classed as a fire door (which looks likely) it is a legal requirement for the closer to exert a pressure of at least 25 kgf, whereas door closers for use in schools and for the disabled must have a closing force not exceeding 20kgf... which is a tad contradictory and is why the heavier one was installed in all probability. So providing your building management is OK with the change (and maybe pointing out that the installation as it currently exists is in breach of the Disabilities Discrimination Act should it come to that), any architectural ironmonger should be able to supply a disabled rated door closer to the same design, although that type of closer is generally not an off the shelf product
