We have a 1900 terrace house. The airing cupboard frame was original and pretty damaged and painted. We are modernising the house, and have removed the frame.
But now struggling to put one back which looks straight....
The original was the sort of frame which was stuck to the fornt of the opening.... should we do this again? and if so how....

You can see from the image we have used the old frame to get an edge to attach a frame to... but the wall on the right is not straight, or level..

How can we achieve a door frame which is straight, whilst also ensuring that the door will hang properly. and how do you finish it off, against the wonky wall on the right.

We are getting the room skimmed next week so need to put a frame in place that the plasterer can go up to, and will be the correct depth etc.

Any advice appreciated. ! :)

Hi, thanks for reply.

But how do I pack it, (with foam filler? ) and how do you finish the right hand side , maybe a edging piece?

Use a piece of planed timber to bring the right side out enough to fit architrave. Pack it out with shims (you can buy plastic shims from screwfix) or small slivers of wood.
