Hi all

We had the windows replaced in our house not so long ago, but the company never finished off the job fully as in finishing trims and window boards.

I have finished the majority of the windows as they sat on a brick wall so there was a reveal.

2 of the windows (upstairs front and back bay windows) sit on a timber frame so there is no reveal. As they left it, you can see the external cill and its not a nice finish. I want to add a small window cill to these, but dont know how to go about this.

How would the pro's finish this job off ??? Is there a ready made product that can be screwed on ???

I appreciate this is long and would be grateful for any help. I know the company are not going to return and I kept back £700 for this.

Thanks in advance

What's this external cill made of timber? cement? Is the timber frame you refer to new, or the old sub-frame from the previous windows? Some pictures would be helpful.

external cill is upvc

The timber frame is from when the house was built (1930).

I'll have to take some pics

if I understand this correctly you mean that there is no internal window board (not reveal) as the wall is only as thick as the frames? Unlike the other windows where there is 4-6" of the wall which the board sits on?

If so, there can be no internal window boar unless you thicken the wall with some timber or similar.

Or fix a plastic cover strip (2-3" bullnose) to hide the joint

Any ideas?

I did my porch in Novasil (see picture), how far are you from Sutton Coldfield? these people sell it. You'll have to buy a 6 mtr length though but they will cut it up for you.

For that corner you'll need an internal angle like mine and also a left end cap and a right end cap.

The only way to fix it is with tiny white brackets that are hidden from view unless you look underneath. I know it looks a tad Heath Robinson but the brackets were the only idea I had, plus the missus wanted it done-and done fast!

I'm not so sure about those horrible brackets MW - and all that just for an airfreshener

Personally, I'd do away with a window board in this situation

similar boat, but I cant be having them brackets

was thinking more like screws a bit of 3x1 and coving with some sort of angled pvc or facia
