Looks like everything is in place for a smooth transfer of power.
Let's hope so. I'm not confident, though.

Because his policies largely benefited urban, secular elites who were a minority. All those people who say “Iran and Afghanistan was so progressive because women wore miniskirts and drank cocktails in bar!”fail to realize that was not the situation in the majority of Iran. The vast majority of Iranians were devout Muslims and not westernized.
The Shah essentially created an oligarchic, crony state like most other countries in the region. If you lived in the cities and had connections to get a good education a good job life was great! But if you didn’t have connections then life was very difficult, especially if you were a farmer.
