I've just been wallpapering and had reason to take a light switch cover off to tuck the paper behind. I noticed there's a connection strip inside the box, I think it was added when an outside light was fitted.

Just curious are they allowed within the metal box or do extra connections need to be made via a junction box (separate and away from the switch), ALWAYS? I can't see a problem if everything is properly insulated but the IEE can be a bit fickle at times (probably for good reasons).

Thanks
