Is a military confrontation

America used to be respected as much for its democratic values as it military power but now they behave like gangsters.
When was America last 'respected for its democratic values'?

When they end up bailing the Europeans out on a regular basis
Last time they helped do that was WWII...

After that any action they have taken is in their own geopolitical and commercial interests - and sod the 'democracy' of it!

Nonsense

The Americans had to step in to that Balkan caper to bail out Europe again

And with out the Americans south Korea or part of it would be part of North Korea

After they shot their $130m model aeroplane down, I suspect there will be some increase in aggression.

Trump called off air strikes against the mullahs with 10 minutes to go

Should have gone for it imho

Indecision plays into there hands

Maybe it has dawned on Trump that the presidency of America is not a reality TV show and he doesn't get to write the script.
The law of unintended consequences could apply if the Iranians don't back down.
All those who would like to see the Iran get smashed up should think of their own self interest, a war could send the price of oil up causing all sorts of problems for the west.
Iran is way bigger than Syria and Iraq, a war could see millions of refugees looking for somewhere to go, Saudia Arabia will close its borders as will Israel and America ,Turkey won't want them so the only place to go will be Europe ,just like last time.

Iranians have executed an American spy today

Probably a public execution they generally draw a big crowd in that part of the world
