Is Drayton 22087 a straight drop-in for RTS1?

Hi,

looking to get better control over temperature without going wireless and to the expense of Hive etc.

I think I would get what I want from dropping in a 22088 or a 22087 in place of the current RTS1 (I'm pretty sure that's what it is). Then if CH is permanently "ON" on the controller, all timings and temps will be controlled at the thermostat.

Am I on the right track?

The current system is a CH/HW cylinder system (don't ask me about valves!) with a standard CH/HW controller and the RTS1.

PS. I'm not assuming this is a DIY job, but I would be interested in peoples' views.

They are different products, in that:

1. The RTS1 is just a room thermostat (temperature control only)

2. The Drayton is a programmable room thermostat (temperature and time control combined in one unit) So, if you go for this, the existing central heating time control [Programmer] should be set to be permanently on 24/7 and the time control built into the Drayton used instead.


Wiring wise they can be interchanged as per the diagrams below.

RTS N = Drayton N
RTS L = Drayton L
RTS 3 = Drayton ON

The Drayton requires an additional link between L and C [The RTS1 has this connection made internally for you]
