Is external paint my only option?

I spent a couple of days erecting a playhouse for my daughter and making a pretty good job of it. It's essentially a small shed on stilts. Then I went and spoiled it all by rushing my choice about weather-proofing. I decided a spray unit would be a good idea (wrong) and then chose the lightest colour available. End result a dark brown 'shed' rather than the pretty light coloured playhouse. Is my only realistic option now to use an external wood paint? I'm presuming I've no hope of lightening it up with another water based treament like Cuprinol.

You could try a pressure washer and 'wash out' the stain. It may be time consuming but it should work.
