Hi, We plan to convert our internal garage into another room. We had a quoite from a builder who did a similar build to a nearby house. The quote was about 4.5k. This was to add a doorway from the house to the garage, level the floor as its on a slight slope, add plasterboard where needed, remove garage door and add a window and fascia. This will avoid needing bricks so the actual hole for the garage will remain just filled with a UPVC window and sort of wooden look panel. It will be a door not just a doorway. We may need more electrics which is not included. Just wanted to get an idea if its a fair quote.

Thanks

Does this need building regulations approval? :cautious::rolleyes:
Fees?

The issue is whether £4.5k is a fixed quote or a guestimate, and if it's for doing it correctly. It is a quote with 2010 prices, but if he can get the materials and do the work for this amount it's a good price.

have you had a look / discussed the job with the owner, and see what the workmanship is like and also any views on how tidy/detailed he/she maybe
When i converted a garage to a room, back in 1990 we needed building regs and change of use. They also changed/insisted on a RSJ across the floor at the front of the garage
