Is it just me

Furthermore, amongst 'audio buffs' there seems to be resurgence of interest in (very expensive) valve amplifiers, which they believe can achieve a 'quality of sound' which cannot be achieved with solid-state electronics (which I personally find hard to believe - but it's their money :-) ).

Yes I have wired plenty with Red to L and Black to N and also plenty with Green to E before it was changed to Green/Yellow !!!

and Yes, some people had no clue how to wire a plug, cable sheath well outside the grip cord and E pullout first.
And the number of times folk exclaimed they not bothered connecting the Earth cos it still works!

And those saying "A Good Electrician showed me this!" - silver foil wrapped around the blown fuse to "repair it" or a piece of fusewire or a few strands of flex. The good old days.

I can't remember if anyone taught me. I do remember as a teen getting a belt because I didn't unplug it first. It was a hi-fi thing on like an extension box that went to a plug.
