Is it Okay To Use Silicone To Stick Tiles For Splashback?

My Bathroom fitter used blobs of silicone to stick tiles (metro) for may vanity unit splash back

I understand that typically you are supposed to use tile adhesive but what I wanted to know is whether I may run into future problems given the job he has done?

So long as the substrate is fine they won't be coming off anytime soon.

Sounds like i will be alright then

They were metro tiles and the substrate was plasterboard (brand new)

Yeah although technically it's not right they won't be going anywhere fixed to plasterboard with silicone.
