I made a plywood cover for my shower pump, which has slots for the pipes and slides easily over it. I lined it with carpet underlay to absorb sound and I cover it with carpet felt, but as a precaution I cut some 1.5" holes in the cover for ventilation, which don't seem to make much of a difference to the noise level - the important thing is that the underlay absorbs most of the sound.
